WELCOME TO THE
WATERMAN & WESTERN RAILROAD
***************************************************
January 01, 2009
Well we have reached the end of another season, and we want to thank all our supporters for making it a great one.
A very special thanks goes out to all who came to help with Holiday Lights Train set up after Pete's heart surgery, this helped to make our run possible.
Even though we are not running the work continues. Now over the next few weeks we will be tearing down and packing up the semi trailers for storage till the next year. Our equipment will be torn down and inspected for wear and tear, and new equipment built. All in the life of a railroad the work goes on.
Our next public event will be the Easter Bunny Train, the Saturday before Easter
We are looking forward to the 2009 season.

We are also available for Private Parties, Picnics, and Reunions

Welcome to the Waterman & Western railroad site
Our
Motto
""Making Memories That
Last A Lifetime"".
Each year we
are open Sundays from June to Labor Day. We
have several planned events
and also offer the train for private parties and picnics.
We are located in Waterman Illinois just off of Route 30 in
Waterman Lions Park. The 1/4 scale model F-3 Electro-motive is
owned by Peter & Charlene Robinson
and operated by them and a staff of many.
The building of the locomotive numbered 101 started in 1985 and was completed in 1991. Now we had a locomotive but no tracks of our own as yet. The 101 has ran at the House of David in Michigan, and at the Riverside and Great Northern Railroad in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin.
A deal was arranged with The Lions Club of Waterman Illinois to put the train in Lions Club Park On March 30th, 1994 ground was broke for the Waterman and Western Railroad. Track and ties were bought and work started. On July 31, 1994 the Golden Spike was driven completing a half mile line around the park Many event have taken place since the WWRR started operations. Picnics, parties, Car Show, are among many.
On July 28th, 2001 the biggest event happened. Pete and Char were united in Marriage in the park. There vows were give aboard a Wedding Car specially built for this occasion, by our crew. A wedding party of 50 people and over 500 guests, were in attendance.
Each year we hold an, Easter Bunny Train, Pumpkin Train, and The Holiday lights Train.
The Easter Bunny Train: Mr. Bunny is here to greet all the kids and hand out candy filled eggs.
The Pumpkin Train: features a Haunted House, Smoke Filled Tunnel, and The Great Pumpkin Patch, where each rider, get to select a pumpkin (while supplies last) to take home.
The Holiday Light Train: is our biggest event of the year. The Park is decorated for the Holidays. 2004 saw over 250,000 lights in various displays. Giant toy soldiers, candy canes, cascading snow flakes, flying reindeer, and swans swimming, just a few of our displays

We are proud to announce the we have just purchased a 15" gauge 4-6-4 Hudson Live Steam Locomotive.
We have removed the boiler and taken it to the boiler shop. We got some good news, the barrel and cover sheet are all in good condition. The firebox, crown sheet and flue tube are going to be replaced. We will be building a new tender for it and reconditioning the running gear. There's a lot of work to do before then, but we have a great crew to get it done.
Watch our site for updates and photos as work proceeds
